Shylee's symptoms had gotten better by the Spring of 2016 which is when were able to see Dr. K. At Shylee's initial visit we learned that she needed to start consuming gluten again and have an endoscopy done to see if her intestines had any damage.... I thought you have got to be kidding me. Why make my daughter suffer again by consuming gluten. The doctor explained she needed a baseline tTg of blood work at that visit and then again 6 weeks after she starts eating again. We decided to do what the doctor asked. Shylee got her blood drawn for the baseline tTg and was nervous to eat gluten again.

Shylee began consuming gluten (not excessively) and again, she began to have diarrhea, headaches, and was tired quite often. During this time she also traveled to Costa Rica with her class for about 10 days. Luckily they mostly ate a lot of fruit and veggies so she didn't suffer too much while she was gone.

About 2 weeks after Shylee returned from Costa Rica it was time for her endoscopy. I took her to the procedure and everything went well other then she had a hard time breathing under anesthesia. I believe this was because she was so nervous and genetically my side of the family does not do well with anesthesia. We left the hospital and awaited the results of the biopsies that were taken from her intestines and the blood tTg level that was drawn from her I.V. while she was having her endoscopy.

To be continued.
